After getting one valve free yesterday and soaking the other in PB Blaster for the night, the other valves freed up. I had to sit there awhile thinking should I, or shouldn’t I go ahead and pull the head? Should I won and boy am I glade! Water was getting into no. 7. Not much but enough when I let the boat set awhile back the valves stuck. I guess when I started it the valve was stuck and bent the push rod a little and when I took my little trip the thing let go. There was a little water trail from the last water passage to the first cylinder on that side which is no.7. So it was the head gasket. Had I not taken the head off, well I don’t even want to think about taking that thing down again. The head should be out of the shop next week and if I can find all the parts I can go back together. Needless to say I’ll be back needing some more HELP- HELP. Having a Jack now. As the saying goes “It’s got to be 5 o’clock somewhere”. Again, a big THANKS to all, with your help it got done!! :D :D

I am glad you found a root cause. Sure is better than finding nothing and having it in your head evertime you take the boat out.

Buttanic

Good going scamper, I knew there was a root cause for the pushrod failure. Be sure to inspect the block completly for cracks. Also would be wise to lay a straight edge on the block and check for warpage. I doubt that is the case, but better to check now.

Ken

Good to hear you found the root cause - three cheers. While you have the exhaust manifold and riser off, now would be a good time to have them pressure checked.
