This past weekend I spend the day fishing with my father and brothers in law. It was a miserable day. Driving rain, thunder, <60 degrees. We decided to call it a day.

We get to the ramp and one of my bros in law asks if he can back the trailer down the ramp. I said no because I didn't want to mess around with not getting it right the first time. He persisted and said he knows how to do it. I relented and said OK.

He gets the trailer in the water and we are putting the boat on. Once secured he goes to pull it out. He says, "Did you Lock the doors??" I said "Nooooo!" He said, "well their locked!"

At this point I checked the doors and then started rattling off all my four letter words in rapid succession. He had inadvertently hit the power locks on the way out of the car.

So here we are, standing on the ramp.. The car is running, doors are locked, and it is raining like crazy.. I felt like dumping him in the lake, but he goes about 6'6" 280lbs. Lets just say he is a weight distribution problem whereever he is.. I figured taking it out on him was not wise.

The only thing he did right was to hit the rear passenger window button, which afforded us about 2" in which to work. This is on an Expedition so there is nothing really close.. WE finally did get the door worked open.

My rule from now on is to always have the drivers window down when launching or retrieving..

Oops...got distracted and sent reply too soon.

Anyway, yes...it's a good idea to keep the window down. When my ex-wife dropped my El Camino into the river after I'd launched the boat, she had an easy way to get out before it sunk.

Walt
