....... go to a Boat Show! We are 100% satisfied with our current 2011 206SSI, 270HP VP 5.0. But, we went to the LA Boat Show on Friday just for fun and to pick up some supplies, etc. Of course, we did stop to take a "look" at that new Chap model 257 SSX with VP 383 DP, with arch - fully loaded. What a beautiful boat. Before we went to the show, we were NOT suffering at all from the dreaded 2 footits. But after spending about an hour or more checking out everything on the 257 with a nice rep from Chaparral / Georgia (and also speaking with the salesman who sold us the current boat) we just might have left the show with a case of the even more dreaded 5 footitis LOL. We did however resist the temptation - at least for the time being!

We have way to treat the symptom of 2 footitis here at our house. It's called storage limitations. I'd have the biggest boat that will fit and unfortunatly I already have it with one inch to spare. Best we can do here is move up the rungs within the same sized boat.

I've got a 30x50 shop and only a 20' boat, I'm in trouble, lol.

Yip - agreed - storage limitations - that is probably the main reason we left the show essentially unscathed!! But, we are now looking for a house with a bigger garage / driveway!!

That's dangerous. Then my limitation would be my SUV's tow capacity which would be a good problem to have. It's only 6500lbs of tow capacity but that'd move me up a couple feet at least.

Me too. Current boat fits in the garage with only an inch to spare. I think it would really be a game changer for me to have a boat that didn't fit in the garage. 80% of the time I'm happy with the size of my boat. However, there are times when I'd like a 21' or so.

Dang. Did the Boat Show yesterday . . . We fell in lust with the Regal 28 Express. IF we ever did a cruiser she would be a great start. The Chaps, SeaRay and Cobalt bowriders are getting out of control. All of them had $200K examples. Holy flyin' flippin' wow, Batman!

Yeah, I'm limited to whatever my '08 F-150 will tow (comfortably about 8Klbs), but I've been eying the F-250's lately.

I just bought a boat this past fall. So, I think that I will be OK going to the boat show that comes to town next week.

I do need to 'accessorize' though . . . :D

I'd like to grow up in size a little as the kids get older as well. The only thing we have going for us is the boat itself is well constructed down to the details but we couldn't even fit it in the garage with the extended swim platform so don't even have that. While I don't say 'wow they sure cut a corner here', I do say 'wow it's cramped'. In other words at a certain point, size trumps quality and I'd take a lesser boat for a couple more feet if I had my druthers. I do know that the next house will have a double deep third stall garage. Since I know that's never going to happen...here I sit at 18'3".

I don't need a boat show to want another boat, my problem is just checking out the online ads...

We too are as happy as one could be with our '03 8.1 DP powered Chap 260 SSI, but dammed if there isn't some guy near me with a beautiful, pristine, '06 twin 5.7 B3 powered 9'2" wide Chap 280 SSI for sale, that's driving me nuts...

Yup, I know that feeling . . . that is why I was not too upset to buy the 33 foot boat instead of the 28 footers that I was originally targeting. Now there are fewer boats in the harbor that would make me say "I woulda, I coulda, I shoulda" . . .

Yeah you took care of three cases of 2 footitis all at once. Smart move :thumb:

Even more so, while the under 20 footers sell quickly around here, the under 30 footers sit and languish and go for astonishingly low prices. The mid 20 footers don't fit in garages, are too big for many lakes and well are a much bigger committment. You get a big bang for the buck the bigger the boat. I see 5 year, old high end, much larger than my boat, boats for 50k and can't believe that a new 20 footer with trailer msrp's just under that while the larger, slightly used boat is 5 times the value.

Re: It is NEVER safe to......

Update: The plot thickens. Just got a call from the admiral. Next to the driveway (neighbor's side) we have a patch of lawn and then an equal sized area of rose bushes. She asked me "would we have enough extra room for the 257 if we took out the grass and the roses (her favorite) and paved that area?" Gotta love an admiral like that - guess that;s why we will celebrate our 40th anniversary in June! God love her and it would be cheaper than buying a new house with bigger garage but......then we would have to rationalize the decision to sell a relatively new, perfectly sized, nicely equipped 21' boat for a 25' plus new one. While I do like her "sense" of thinking we'd have to also figure out where to get the loads and loads of "cents" required for the new boat.......in other words......while it makes sense, it doesn't really make cents LOL.

So I guess I didn't realize you were the age you are. I say go for it then. Your current sig boat is almost exactly what I'd like to move up to except I'd want a larger v8...the 270hp was available on my tiny boat.

Stay off the internet boating add site. Simple fix. You have too much "stuff" already, and should unload some of that before you buy ANYTHING else. Thin the heard.....

I have too much stuff and need to thin the herd?

Why?
