Item to attach dock bumpers

I need to add two places to hang boat bumpers mid ship and right now there's nothing there but hull. Not really worth adding ss cleats for. Thought about those lever-type suction cups for bathroom shower stalls and bought a few cheapies but they just aren't quite strong enough. Is there anything like this for heavier-duty or marine use? Any other ideas? I've seen the window clips but they won't work for us.

If you moor at the same place all the time, could you put the fenders on the dock?

iBoats has "marine grade" fender suction cups; Drowned Rat sent you a link.

if the boat pitches and rolls with someones careless wake there are huge amounts of stress from the hull pushing on the fender, and also the up and down motion. If your moored and the temporary cleat breaks free then you won't have a fender.

I would do it right, mount a cleat, even a retractable one would be nice.

I know, you're probably right - I was thinking the same thing... I'm not against spending the $, there are just better things to spend $100 on.

I bought 2 1/2" nylon cleats for the fenders and attached them where the fenders ought to be hung. In 40 years of boating, never lost one, however, both of the 8" fenders were found floating in the water by me with some hi-tech do-dad which obviously did not work.

Yea I know, $100 is a lot of tackle fuel and beer. I feel your pain.

Forget about what I just said , I diddent see that he said the "fender tenders" will not work for him.

Thanks all. I bought a couple of ss fender cleats for the fore-sides and pvc rail hangers for aft.

I know it's a little late, but I have a line that attaches to the fore and aft cleats that runs thru two fenders and has knots to keep the fenders in place. I can use it on either side and just unhook it from the cleats and store with the fenders. I know the ascii art is cheezy, but it's like this:

O-----*F*---------------------*F*--------O

O= loop
*=knot
F=fender
--- = line

actually a good idea you got there. my fore cleats are right on either side of bow point so this probably wouldn't work, line would run over top of gunwales and partly across deck (hope I have my terms right - I'm learning!). thanks.

I just noticed that you're from SE PA, whereabouts? I'm in south Jersey and boat on the Delaware River near the Philadelphia shipyard.
