Something I noticed that I thought odd was when the engine would apparently attempt to fire off the loafing cylinder and I guess all the accumulated fuel in the cylinder exploded all at once and made the big bang and puff of smoke out the exhaust, I had smoke pop out in an unusual place:

Standing at the remote control, starboard side about 6' forward of the engine, a (small) puff of smoke, same color as the exhaust would emit approximately where the corner of the electronics mounting plate and outer edge of the flywheel are located. Seems like it was just below the top of the plate.

Nothing there normally, it is aft of where the block is assembled and farther aft than the crank upper seal. Possibly that is where it came from. With the super bang and the piston in motion it could have backed up into the area where the crank is and blown out there too when the input ports on the piston were uncovered. May have come from the carburetor throat (backfire) but couldn't tell as the air box cover was in place as was the oil reservoir and that would make more sense. There are 4 breathing ports on that side of the air box and they point fore and aft. Only happened when I got a big bang.

Comments appreciated,

Mark
