Well after 45 years as a working addict i have chosen this time to let the younger folks take over. Had an offer for my furniture company and i accepted. As i look back with pride i never was unemployed and always gave 100% whether in the military or owning my own company. Many look forward to retirement i guess i will find out how much fishn i can do and not get bored.

Since i am dangerous with a screwdriver(i buy my wife tools for gifts)dont think fixn things will be on my schedule. I do know i am planning a trip to my homestead in Mn. for some ice fishn next month. Ave. temps 10 below but no buzzing insects. Hope to spend a few summer months at the homestead overlooking the lake and lookn for the ultimate gator(musky). Some of my iboat friends have been there and my door will always be open.

Hard to believe i have been here since May of 02. This forum has come along way since then. I will be peekn in once in a while just to see some old familar faces.

Re: Its Time

Congrats on the retirement! I am sorry I never did get that custom made bedroom suit from you ... haven't decided to spend the money yet, and now it is too late!

The door is always open if you make it to central PA and we can hunt for the elusive gator in the waters of Lake Raystown!

Enjoy the retirement, and let's go fishing!

Congratulations! I really have a hard time understanding people who don't like retirement. If nothing else, it puts you more in charge of your options. Fish, slow down a little and have a good time.

Re: Its Time

Congrats,

But don't ever think retirement means you work less! I retired in 2006 from the Military and have spent the last 4 years working harder than I ever did when I had a job, heck, my wife is a heck of a task master..

Enjoy...

Gonfishin, you won't regret it. It's approaching 3 years since I left the work force and I'm loving it.

Re: Its Time

Congrats on the retirement!

I've been retired for over 3 years now and am lovin' every minute of it.

What I've found is that if a person had hobbies and interests outside of their career while working, that they'll do just fine in retirement and won't be bored. I'm one of those. I keep busy when I want to and just kick back when I don't. :p

The folks who were completely consumed by work are the ones who have trouble adapting and end up going back to work just to pass the time. I have a cousin and a former co-worker who are like that... they just don't know what to do with their time when not at work.

Sounds like if you like to go fishing that you'll do great. Congrats again!

Re: Its Time

Well, good move, GF. Welcome to the world of "Where did I find time for all this when I was working??"

We may be able to do some musky fishing together yet. :)

Congrats and enjoy your retirement. You've worked hard for it. Enjoy the fishing. Don't be a stranger now. You could always rebuild boats for a hobby.;)

Re: Its Time

Good for you.

Use your imagination to keep busy.

If you get bored you can always be a "greeter" at Wal-Mart. :D
