Well, I had a similar situation, with where the fishing seat poles go, and I got some at the local lumber yard. I think they were something like 59 cents apiece. BUT, they were NOT rubber, they were plastic.

Call the MFG of the product and give them a call direct.

I bought a black rubber 'cork' from Home Depot. It fits my bow light socket perfectly. I attached a ahort cable so it doesn't disappear again.

I lose my lid about once a week...:p

I think the tapered rubber plug would be the best idea.Keep water out and cost you a buck or two..;)

might be easier to buy a new receptacle....unless that one is other than standard size....

Re: I've lost my lid...

you won't get one from the manufacturer.
Boat junk yard or yank one off an abandoned boat.
But for all the time it takes, if the hardware store option doesn't pan out, get a new fixture and keep it for when (not if, when) your current one fails.

I agree with the rubber plug. Then just drill a small hole in it and put a string with a knot on the end so it will not pull through.
