j200txeoc JOHNSON wont start

I bought a Seaswirl with a j200txeoc JOHNSON 200 HP back in June and the boat started cold right up with one push of the ignition .... I took it home and did some cosmetic work nothing mechanical with the engine ... AUGUST I got to the point to put on some ears and start the engine and it just turned over ... wouldnt start ... I charged the 3 batteries overnight and same thing ... engine just turns over ... maybe its my ignorance of this new boat to me .. the previous owner said just push in the key to choke and turn ... should i hear the choke doing something when i push the key in? Do i start with the choke? do i mess with the red lever on the choke? the engine is immaculate ...... THXS

no offense taken ... i know its probably my ignorance of this boat and i did look around for a lanyard but didn't see one ... if it has one shouldn't it be by the throttle somewhere?

Crankcase dried out......pump up bulb till hard, move red level and squeeze bulb 1 time, return level to original postion, start engine and use key by pushing in to keep running till warmed up

Yes it would be on the controls or somewhere on the helm. Usually a red in color with a black connector. I had to ask as they sometimes get stepped on or bumped into and come off.
No lanyard no spark.

thxs ill look for that too ... dont recall seeing one so maybe they hacked it or its lying around

my other older boat has it .. i just dont recall seeing 1 on this boat and its not too old .....

Thanks to all for helping out ... just want to follow up and let everyone know it turned out I got bamboozled by both the boat owner and boat shop repair guy who worked on the boat. The Johnson engine had a whole bunch of non OMC parts on it and was in questionable condition and the harness wasn't even the correct one and none of the alarms were connected. The Johnson expert near me said he wouldn't go out on the boat and suggested changing the engine ... he didn't have any engines himself so the advice seemed sound and not self serving. I ended up repowering with a new 175hp Suzuki DF175 and have to look @ the TACH to make sure its running since I don't even hear the motor. So as the old saying goes "Buyer Beware" especially with used boats.
