You all have seen some of my posts and my questions over the years..

And I know the stator is failing and the flywheel magnets shot free and took some "stator" metal with them..

What I don't get is:

1. When I search for a new 35amp stator, I get this result "Replaces OMC Pn #584643,763779 sierra # 18-5862"
How do I know that this the exact replacement, called my local Evinrude/Johnson dealer and they said my only option was the 35amp stater for $408.

What is the replacement part # for a J225TXEDE 1996 225hp Oceanrunner for the stator so I know I am ordering the correct stator??

2. I pulled metal loose from under the flywheel magnets today and that narrows down why my engine was misfiring so badly two weeks ago..
Which magnets should I replace? I have spotted from underneath that two different magnets have cracked in half.. Are those an issue that should be replaced or should I focus on the ones that are missing chunks from them? At $42 a magnet including epoxy kit locally, this could get expensive quick!..

3. Where can I find a listing of original replacement parts for my specific engine type with original part #'s so when I order them I know I am getting the right stuff??

You guys are lifesavers and I owe all of you a round or two at your favorite watering hole, should we ever cross paths!!

It sounds as if you are unaware of the shop.evinrude.com website. You can look up your own parts there.
I suggest you get on there and study the different sections.
Your stator is in the ignition system section, it is reference #4 and the original part number was indeed 584643.
So....Evinrude does not update these pages as part numbers change over the years. Your original 584643 is now 763779.
It is made by Evinrude, OR you can get one from various aftermarket suppliers like Sierra and CDI.

So, go looking for the best price on either an Evinrude 763779 or, for example, a Sierra 18-5862.
Dusky marine has a 763779 for 299 plus shipping, for example.
IBoats has the CDI for 368.

This stator was used on hundreds of models of J/E V6 loopers from around 1995 forward.....not a complicated thing to figure out which part is needed.

Magnets are another story. The parts lists don't show the magnet kits. That number was published out to the dealers, but it has been posted here many times.

I have a V6 looper flywheel with good outer magnets and center hub magnet. It may be cheaper that way than to get all those magnet kits....
PM me.
