I have a recoil (manual) start motor. I got a parts motor (J30ECOA) to convert it to electric start, but the toothed flywheel hits the mounts for the manual start. Can I have both electric and recoil starting on the same engine? I have considered modifying the mounts, or fabricating something. If i go to the trouble of destroying these perfectly good parts, will I run into clearance issues down the line?

Thanks for your time.

most electric starts do not have the recoil. the flywheel has a notch in it, that you wrap a rope around, to manually start it.

Dang. I noticed that emergency pull start notch in both flywheels. I will likely modify the existing mounts to clear the flywheel. Thanks for the reply, I will post up again when/if i get it all sorted out.
