Hi all. Been a long time since I've been here. I need some advice on a solid source for O.S. pistons and rings. I've read some different stuff on aftermarket knockoffs that just don't hold up. eBay has some listings that are reasonable, all new parts, out of Phoenix Az. Here is the link for a set that claims "meets or exceeds O.E." Do me a favor and take a look. Brand new stock OE rings are about $34 a set. This set prices out very reasonable considering it comes with the new O.S. piston, rings, and wrist pin-retainers.

I sure could use some experienced builder's opinion or experience. My engine was submerged in salt water. A quick pickle saved the crank and bearings, but since I've got it all torn down, I'm really leaning on new pistons-rings. My block is at the shop now, getting miked. Once I get the numbers back, I'll know which way to go. The kit in the link shows oversize available up to .040" over. Thanks in advance. Kevin

Why not use Pistons from BRP? They will work fine, no fretting if they are as good as OE, no rolling of the dice.

The OE BRP ones I bought this spring were made in China for what that's worth.

Interesting. Leaves a horrible feeling in my gut though. But most of the best garbage is made in that county. However, it is still garbage

IMO.... WSM is the best one on the market and is sold by many under various names such as: Pro Marine Pro series,Mallory,Red Rhino,H20 series and others. Beware as several sellers on sleazebay claim they actually make these. I have used these product for year and have several hundred reman powerheads out there running these parts.

Manufacturers parts should be as good as the original parts, as good as the ones that failed...

Or was it Taiwan. Either way, it was a Far East COO.

I appreciate the feed back. I got my block back from the machine shop with good news. The cylinders miked out well enough after honing to use stock pistons with stock OE rings. Thanks again for the feedback. Kevin
