What is your desired result from a Jack Plate?

I am familiar with a couple of people put Jack Plates on thier Lunds, both manual and hydraulic. Considering the expense versus the return, I'm not sure either owner would say it was worth it. Most outboards can be raised enough on the transome with the current mounts. A Pro-V or any Lund hull for that manner is not the kind of hull that benefits a lot from a Jack Plate.

The reason that i was needing this was for fishing shallow water . This way you do not need to tilt your moter up . If you have a hydraulic jack plate you can raise it straight up . Wonder if the transom can handle it ??

Sorry, I am not trying to be difficult- help me to understand why you don't want to trim your motor up in shallow water? Is there a problem with your trim/tilt? or a clearance issue of some sort??? Are you suspecting issues with your transom already?

It seems that you are leaving out part of the story here....

No Bad Took .. When You Raise Your Moter Up At The Angle That Occurs When You Lift It Drives The Back Of Your Boat Down , And The Front Of Your Boat Raises. So To Fix This Issue On Bass Boats We Add A Hyd Jack Plates. Because Then You Are Picking The Moter Straight Up . You Can Then Run In Shallow Water. And Your Pickup Tube Is Still In The Water . Is Lund Transom Strong Enough. I Have A 1900 Pro V :d

Yep, plenty strong to do that- your Pro V transom will handle it fine. Be reasonable about the outboard you put back there and you will be fine...

Again, I wasn't trying to be difficult, I was just concerned that someone was leading you in a wrong direction.... Usually if folks are planning on needing a draft of less than 10 inches, they choose a hull other than a Deep V hull and use a jet versus a prop...

Just make sure you do not raise it too much to where it quits picking up water.
If you are not running a low water pick up, keep a close eye on it.

Re: Jack Plate For Lund Boat

So, is it considered a waste of time to have a jack plate put on a lund?? Simply because of the hull design?

I'm facing a similar delemna with my 2001 1800 Fisherman. I'm re-powering and have been reading that the new D.I. two strokes need to ride high on the transom...to have the anti-cav plate ride on the top of the water while underway. I've been told that if the plate runs below the water...their is a considerable amount of drag which will affect performance...but more importantly fuel efficiency.

I'm not sure how the OP can solve his dilemna without the plate....and I'm on the fence with my situation...not sure how the plate would hurt in either situation. Not discounting others opinions...just wondering if their are folks out their that have put plates on their Lund's?
