Just bought a hydraulic jack plate for my Stratos and would like to know what things to look out for when I install it. Any pointers will help.

Re: Jack Plate

Just put a cmc tilt on my skeeter.

make sure you use 3m 4200 sealant or equilevant to seal the mounting bolts and holes so no water penetration.

route electrical cables out of the way so no chance of getting pinched or smashed.

enjoy

What size is your engine, how much set-back with the plate?

Re: Jack Plate

A water pressure guage would be a good idea, that you don't raise the engine up, and away from the water pick holes. You may have to replace the drag-link on the remote steering arm, depending on how high the engine is on the transon, or now the jack plate. Those plate's, depending on set-up can make quite a difference in performance. You probably already have one, but a good transom saver for your trailer would be in order.

Re: Jack Plate

The boat has a factory installed water pressure gauge in it. What is normal pressure for my 1993 evenrude 150 at WOT? Also I do have a transom saver I think I will need to lengthen it is all. What kind of performance gains do you predict? Now I get 59 mph on the gps with out the jack plate. The main reason I want this jack plate is for in the rivers where its shallow. Thanks for your thoughts.

Performance gains would be hard to predict. Dhadley on these post's would be much more helpful in this regard. Hopefully, he will respond.
