Jackplate on Stratos 270

Does anyone have any experience with a jackplate on a Stratos 270 (17'9"). Motor is an Evinrude 120hp v-4. I am thinking about installing one next week to maximize efficiency and speed. Does anyone have this setup? Any feedback good or bad? <br />Thanks.....Doug

Ha digdug<br /><br />How's the weather over there. Just dropped in a post to see what brand of jack plates you where looking at. We're heading over to a boat show Saturday. Going to see how good a deal I can swing on a jack plate. I really like the Rapid Jack (manual). Let us know what brand you pick.

Lakerunner, how's the Bayou State? (or is it the Sportsmans Paradise???) It's getting warmer each day here. I took the boat out Sunday evening but did not catch a single fish (still a little early). My father lives on Toledo Bend (south end of lake)and he is starting to catch fish now (bass). I am looking at the CMC manual jackplate (Cook Marine Corporation). I can buy one at the Bass Pro Shop in Dallas for $196.00. You can check them out on their web site. I like the design and the price. I attended the Dallas boat show a couple weeks ago but could not find a better buy.

Ya we have it pretty good here with the huntin and fishin! <br /><br />We went out last Sunday and caught a few striped bass 3 to 5 pounds off grass shrimp.<br />I live just north of the lake so we're on the fresh/salt water line. Makes fishing very interesting in that your not sure what's on the end of the pole. At the end of last summer we were caughting specks and reds at the mouth of the river! With the loss of wetlands and salt water intrusion I may endup with a beach front house before to long.<br /><br />I've looked at a couple brands of plates also. The cable and ratcht setup on the rapid jack just looks really clean. The best price I've found is $220.00.
