"Just" a Suzi? Well, I guess so, but that is good. The Suzis are leading the way in light weight, EFI 4 stroke outboards.

"The Suzis are leading the way in light weight, EFI 4 stroke outboards."

I guess that's why you see a Suzuki dealer on every street corner, and parts and service are a breeze? :p

Seriously, you must be talking about only one particular Suzuki model here...the DF 140. Because Suzuki really packs on the lbs for EFI in their other models!

Check out who's leading the "light weight 4-stroke EFI's". I'll throw in some non-EFI's for fun.

225 hp class

Yamaha F225 = 583 lbs
Merc EFI4 225 = 583 lbs
Honda BF225 = 588 lbs
Suzuki........????

200 hp class

Yamaha F200 = 583 lbs
Honda BF200 = 588 lbs
Suzuki........????
Merc..........????

115 hp class

Merc EFI4 115 = 386 lbs.
Yamaha F115 = 400 lbs.
Susuki DF115 = 416 lbs
Honda BF115 = 496 lbs.

60 hp class

Merc EFI4 60 = 248 lbs
Suzuki DF 60 = 359 lbs!
Yamaha (non EFI) F60 = 244 lbs

50 hp class

Suzuki DF 50 (a 3-cyl) = 243 lbs
Merc EFI4 50 (a 4-cyl) = 248 lbs
Honda BF50 (3 cyl, non efi) = 198 lbs
Yamaha F50 (a 4 cyl, non efi) = 233 lbs

40 hp class

Merc EFI4 40 = 216 lbs
Suzuki DF40 = 243 lbs
Yamaha F40 (non efi) = 181 lbs
Honda BF 40 (non efi) = 198 lbs

30 hp class

Merc EFI4 30 = 216 lbs
Honda BF30 (non-efi) = 152 lbs
Yamaha F30 (non-efi) = 198 lbs
Suzuki DF 30 (non-efi) = 212 lbs

Suzuki's are great and I'll give JB credit for the DF140. But it doesn't look like Suzuki is leading light weight 4-stroke EFI's more than anyone else. :)

Touche', Forktail.

I was referring only to the DF140 and should have been more precise.

Speaking of precision, the JohnnyZuki DF 60 AND DF70 weigh 336LB. The 356lb in the literature is a misprint. Not that it makes any difference. :)

I think the progress made by Merc and Honda (their new 20hp) signal a whole new generation of EFI 4 strokes that are weight competitive with the DFI 2 strokes and in some cases even the carbed 2 strokes.
