Just a stab.Could the rectifier be bad and letting ac through damaging the box.

Could be, 'Spike. <br /><br />Transients in the 12volt system with the key ON can kill a powerpack. That includes bad rectifier, loose wire somewhere else in the system, bad connections at the battery, etc.<br /><br />Wring out your entire electrical system Way577, including the rectifier/regulator, and any habits you may have of switching batteries or other big loads while the engine is running.<br /><br />Good luck.

hi guys as always you guys hit it on the nose took the boat to the shop when he put the stator on there was a wire grounding out this time he payed thanks for your help way577
