Jet question

Since my Chief project is pretty much DOA, I've been doing what any good Starmada member would do... cruising Craigslist for another Starcraft! :D A Jet caught my eye, looks like a newly redone interior and paint job, with a working 33hp Evinrude sitting on the stern for $1000. My question for you Jet owners is will a 33hp get the boat up to a nice speed? I'd love to pull a tube, but would that be a bit much for the engine? I'm guessing since the boat is light, perhaps it could get the tube going a bit, but have any of y'all tried? Thanks for the input..... I seem to be coming down with this uncontrollable urge to buy another tinnie!

Re: Jet question

I'd say the 33 would be a little light on guts for a family fun boat. These Jets are rated at 50 so I'd be shooting for that if you'd be looking to drag folks around the lake.

Enjoy the hunt!:)

Re: Jet question

I'm not real familiar with the jets, but I'd say it'd depend on the length, and how fast you wanted to go. My Uncle used to pull skiers around with a 25 Johnson for years. Took a bit more work to get up, but it would pull you fine. I had a lot of fun behind that old 16 ft wooden boat. I had a 14 ft glasser that you could get up behind a 35, but your feet stayed wet. Heavier boat, and the engine wasn't in as good of shape.
