Mr. Reeves
you wrote about evinrude top main bearing problems in certain years for v6. I have 95 175 oceanpro and my motor has a slightly higher pitch sound from the top end than my neighbors 150. What is the cure if this might be the issue?
Thanks

Re: Joe Reeves..evinrude question

Sorry my friend but that wasn't me. I do recall what you're speaking of though, and if memory serves me right, I believe that the person who posted the answer said that the main bearing actually came loose from the housing and moved upwards.... something of that nature. I don't recall what the cure was though.

Your engine was manufactured a few years after I retired and frankly I have never encountered that type of problem.

Hopefully the original poster will jump in here with a review.

the top main bearing problem was on certain '96 200-225 motors. The bolts would loosen and the bearing housing would wobble. Your 175 is a small block V6 of completely different design.
