Joe Reeves tach test water cooled rectifer/regulator

I did the test and found that my rectifer/regulator is no good. Just waitng for my new one. Now my question is can i leave my tach wire hooked up to the yellow/gray wire on the terminal strip.while waiting for the new part to arrive. Would like be able to read my tach. Thanks for any help.

Do not run the grey tach connected to the alternator leads without the rectifier and battery hooked up. If reving up, the voltage might peak and ruin the tach.
