wondering if there is a modification that I can do to the motor to add a fast idle cable? flooded it yesterday and ended up taking the cover off to get to the carb linkage so that I could rev and clear the motor, got me thinking that a fast idle setup would be nice come wintertime.

any suggestions? search turned up nothing

What kind of control do you have that doesn't allow you to advance the throttle in neutral?

"control" unit and linkage - only 2 cables going in under the hood, 1 fwd and one reverse

trim gauge isn't working either but I'll deal with that in another post (along with a few other issues)

Yep, when the control is in neutral, just like in the picture, pull the handle out and push forward. That will allow you to give it some throttle without going in gear.

The two cables are a shift cable and a throttle cable.

my first thought - no way...

sure enough, which means that the cryptic silkscreening on top of the handle makes sense now "Pull NEUTRAL Throttle"

appreciate your help

BTW - that's a very clean looking motor. Don't see many 18 year old motor that look that good around here.
