Hi I have a 1978 70 hp johnosn on a 4.5 cruise craft it pushes the boat along very well BUT the motor has an annoying problem. When you start it up it starts great but the top cycl doesnt fire properly I have changed all the coils and the power pack, only to find that it didnt fix the problem. Once in sheer desperation I started tapping the plate that holds the coils etc only to find that the top coil started working so I have taken the rubber boots from underneath the coil plate and that is where I am now not sure if thats fixed it yet. SO has anyone experinaced this problem as I am sure it must be a earth problem.
