Johnso carb question...

Hi, I just finished rebuilding the carbs on my 1975 85hp johnson. I noticed when I took them apart that the float drop adjustment was allowing the float to drop 1 1/2" instead of the 7/8 to 1 1/8" the specs call for. Just curious ,but how would this affect the motor running? It was running good before I rebuilt the carbs but wouldn't go past 4700 rpm's. I think that is a prop issue though. The carbs were leaking some fuel and the bulb won't get firm is why I rebuilt them...just to rule them out.

If the float is set to low, it will not allow the float bowl to fill to spec.

The float level was set right. It was the float drop down that was off, which I don't see where it would make much difference but there is a spec for it in the manual.

Rich
