johnson 10 hp

just bought an older 10 hp johnson outboard and i think it is a 1963 model i went to this website http://www.marinshopen.se/guide/guide.htm <br />and something is different,<br />my model number is: QD-24B the only one they show on that website is: QD-24. what does that "B" mean? also i am trying to change the impeller and i cant get the lower unit to "let go". i disconnected the shift-shaft at the couplings but it still only drops about 2" or so? am i missing something here??? please help <br />serial number is: 2370586

Hello.<br />The "B" is only a suffix letter and nothing to worry about.<br />The screw on the shift rod has to be taken out altogether and sometimes a little extra force is needed to loosen the shift rod.<br />However,it is a good idea to grab a flash light and shine in that opening on the port side to see what exactly causes the hang up.With these old engines you sometimes encounter a "home remedy" for a problem.
