I just had a boat with a Johnson 100ESL72R engine given to me. It was given by someone who wanted the boat gone so he could sell the trailer. Lucky me? Let's reserve judgement.

Yesterday I put on the muffs, hooked up a good battery and turned it over. It fired up but runs a little rough and seems to be intermittantly missing on one cylinder. Spark is good on all cylinders. I changed the fluid in the lower unit and the hydroelectric shift seems to work properly. I suspect the carbs need to be cleaned and reset. I wont have a problem with that ,but I don't have a manual for it yet. Could someone tell me how many turns out the pilot mixture screws default to. And the float settings.

Thanks:)

Okay, I just read the sticky on carb adjustment by joe Reeves. Thanks Joe. I'll try that. 1 1/2 turns.
