Re: johnson 110 rpms

cpr,Just for your info the engine is a 1988 model.Engine should be capable of 5500-5800 rpms at WOT.What pitch prop are you currently running and is it an OMC sst or other? This info will assist us in determining whether the engine is slightly overpropped for its application or if carburetion or other factors are limiting the engine rpms.

You could take the prop to a prop shop. Stainless props can be tweaked a bit but not a lot. I wouldn't bother for 200 rpm.

If it's a 3 blade prop measure from center of hub to tip of one blade and multiply by 2.This will give you a more accurate diameter.A 110 on a 17 ft aquasport spinning a 19" pitch is sort of like being in between clubs on a golf shot.I'm thinking a 17" will get you a better hole shot and with the added rpm ,less load on engine and comparable top end.If you decide to go prop hunting it has been my experience that the OMC props are designed to best meet the torque curve needs of your engine.
