Hey, everybody first post so here i go. I have just installed a Johnson 115hp 1994 on my boat and need to know if there is a steering tension device located on the motor, as it is very stiff to turn, my 90hp that came off the boat was very easy to turn so i know it is not the steering at fault. I have tried to pump grease in but it can't or won't go into the shaft, unscrewed the grease nipple and that's not blocked. does the motor have to turned to a certain point or should the motor be turned whilst pumping grease in.

I'd take the bolt out that connects the teleflex cable to the motor then you should be able to swing the motor back and forth easily with one hand. At least this will give you some idea if the motor is free or you have done something to the steering to cause the problem.

no, the motor was stiff before the steering was connected, so that is why i know it is the motor that is the problem.

it does not have one. what has happened, no one has greased the swivel section, the grease has hardened. especially in the cold weather.
