I am leaking unburned two stroke oil on the bottom side of the exhaust adapter where it mates to the intermediate/exhaust housing. The leak is at backside. The mate of the powerhead to the exhaust adapter appears to still be sealed. Only noticeable after extended trolling, leaves oily black residue on back of intermediate housing. If running from place to place in upper RPM ranges then I do not see it.

Can this repair wait until fall? Any special gasket sealers necessary to be used in conjunction with gasket?
If I do repair can the powerhead be left maited to exhaust adapter and lifted to replace gasket to intermediate housing?
Advice appreciated

Re: Johnson 130 Exhaust adapter gasket

Cleaning up an old post. This problem went away when I linked and synced motor again. I had not measured and set the 5 thousandths adjustment correctly for the cam and cam follower. My theory is that my timing was off enough at idle that I was dumping a bit of unburnt fuel/oil mix. Sounds odd but have not had problem for three years now.
