after getting some good advice i had help today firing the engine with 2 squirt bottles . .. had her running for a good 30 seconds.... she sounds great. so i decided to go ahead and remove and tear down the carbs .... i have a factory service manual but i have a couple questions ... i took the screw out of the sides of the carbs to get to the slow speed orifices.... i got a good shot of 2+2 ( carb cleaner ) to spray through the orifice but should i still remove them ?? if so how do they come out ... feels like a small flat head fits but they are really tight and didnt want to strip them out.....also on the float bowl .... removed the screw to get to the high speed orifice ... samething ....a good spray of carb cleaner but should it be removed?? do the core plugs need to be removed for cleaning ??? im going to order 2 rebuild kits and wasnt sure if there is an o-ring on the orifices that gets replaced or not.

any other hidden jets or passages i should be looking for to clean out ??

the carbs are looking really good with the 2+2 a brush and a little effort .... is it worth while taking them to my local dealer to have them dipped and sonic cleaned .... or will spraying everything out with 2+2 be good ?? i have cleaned motorcycle carbs before with 2+2 but figured i get a few opinions...... thanks guys, scott

I'd recommend removing all the jets for visual inspection. The jets of a Johnson/Evinrude carb are best removed with a special jet removal tool. 317002. Possible you can make a tool from an old screwdriver.
