i have this 135 and it has been sitting foe a while so im sure it needs some carb work. i was hoping to atleast get her to fire before pulling carbs and dumping the money into them. it turns over and acts like it wants to pop off but just doesnt quite get there so i figured it bowls may be full of bad gas/sludge. so i pumped the prime ball to fill the carbs then took the bowl drain screws out 1 at a time.... the top first ... gas ran out but not like i thought it would.. it was not a good stream but it did run out ...... took the screw out of the bottom bowl drain and got nothing .... shouldnt both carbs be filling ??? and gas run out of both drain bowls ?? even with both screws out i pumped the prime bowl and gas still only came from the top drain. suggestions ??? and remember id like to atleast get it to fire before a carb tear down/rebuild if possible. thanks guys, scott

If you want it to fire. Trim motor to lowest. Take out plugs. Open throttle, use a spray bottle of fuel mix is fire it into each opening.

Next spray some fuel mix into each cylinder directly into the combustion chambers - VERY helpful waking up a moth balled outboard and avoid cranking it into oblivion.

Briskly, reinstall the plugs and fire it up. Once it fires, you can redo the fuel through carbs to hear it a couple more times.

Check compression. Go through the carbs, etc..

Yes, fuel should be draining from carbs and your symptoms are exactly what gummed up carbs/float stuck will do.

i think ill still try your method though and if it fires ill go ahead and pull carbs and get rebuild kits .... stupid question ... i found OEM rebuild kits online for around 17-18 bucks ..... im assuming i need to order 2 kits ... correct ? the descriptions arent clear if it had everything to do both carbs or not... thanks again

yes, 2 kits. 1ea for upper and lower carbs. The factory kit will contain a float.

I wouldn't try to fire the engine if you only have fuel to one carb. Could be a stuck float. Remember, the fuel in the gas also provides a lubricant to the rotating assembly. So no fuel to one carb means two cyls have no lubrication if it fires. Yes, you'll need two carb kits. Keep in mind the carbs could have dried fuel lodged in the passages, so you'll need to pay attention to the passages you can't see-with some type of cleaner which will dissolve dried fuel, like a Gumout type product.
