johnson 140 short to long shaft

Hi All,

I think i've found a solution to my dead cylinder (wasted piston) in my 1980 Johnson 140 25in shaft.....

I am about to purchase a 1980 Johnson 140 20in shaft motor for replacement. Can anyone confirm that it is possible to change out the mid-sections and make this work???

If you want to replace the blown powerhead ,with the one you bought,no problem as long as its a 140 and not an 85 or 90,they have different exhust set ups,

Hey thanks...but does this mean I still have to take off the powerhead or can I simply lower the mid-section and lower unit down and then swap??
