I got a question for anyone here please help! I’m new to this forum but it has helped me out so much I’m the past.. I got a Johnson 140hp vro v4 outboard.. the oil pump has been diconnected on it. So I been using premix. It won’t go over 10 miles an hour. I took the cover off the carbs yesterday and there was a bunch of oil in it. Also on one side of the motor I can unplug both spark plugs and the motor dies. On the other side if I unlplug the spark plugs it does nothing but if I go to try and put them back on with the motor running it shocks the sh** out of me. Also that side of the motor isn’t as hot as the other side. Do u have any idea what that could be? The motor runs fine it just won’t go fast at all..

I would start with the basics of checking your compression and post those numbers here before you get too much into anything else...

How did it run for you last season ?----Or if new to you , did you buy at a dealer or off Craiglist ??---Plug wires are reversed on the side that does nothing ???-------------Post the model # of your motor.----Post the actual compression values here.

Welcome to iboats

A model # will help as there were 3 different versions of the 2 stroke 140.
A 99 cu in Crossflow, a 110 cu in lopper, and a 122 cu in Looper.

I see you are learning about the Shocking Truth of Electricity
