I just got this boat about 2 months ago came with a Johnson 150 '98 Before anything where I live to put it on the ocean I have to go about 2 miles at idle. It is shaking (misfire) at idle also before if put at 1000 wil go smooth now it shakes even at 1500. I cleaned the carbs, by spraying, put de carb additive in gas, took the spark plugs out and were fouled, changed them with new ones and they came oily (some people say it is normal for 2 stroke). Also for about 30 gals of gas ate almost 1 gal of oil. The guy that gave me the boat gave me some johnson oil tc-w3 (written on label) I went to johnson and they told me they do not make that oil no more it is now labeled XD50 I put that,(some old oil was left in the tank) same result. I looked in the chambers and have carbon deposits, I used carb tuner in cyl and flushed it, same thing. Maybe is just some rich mixture from oil. I can really use some help (I hope is not the rings). Thanks a lot for your advice

You are using more oil than normal, but that engine shouldn't have a problem burning it.

If you had the boat at my shop,I'd do a spark and compression test, followed by looking at a fuel sample.

Then I might be looking for a loose fuel connection causing the oil consumption.

DHP
