johnson 150 gl water flow problem

I took the lower unit off my motor to fix a bent prop shaft. When I took the motor back onto the water I saw that water did not shoot out the two jets on the back of the moter, rather motor exhaust did. Water did come out where the hose attachment is, to allow running it in land. One thing else it seems my psi gauge is now higher. It was reading 30 at 5000 RPM. Just what pressure is this measuring??? <br />any info would be helpful
