just replaced my 89 johnson 150 waterpump by myself and after a grueling two hours of getting the shift hooked back up and working i have no water pumping through the motor at all. it pumped before but was a little weak, i can blow air up pee hole hose and hear it in the outdrive so i know its not blocked , what could be wrong oh i dont wanna do this again.

Did you make sure the cam engaged the impeller? It could have fallen out and your impeller isn't spinning.

... or the water tube didn't make it into the pump outlet and/or the grommet got folded over.

In total agreement with both explanations above. At any rate, the lower unit needs to come back off. The shift rod thing..... don't do that job by yourself, have someone helping you, and keep in mind that the shift rod has a critical measurement (in neutral) from the top surface of the lower unit to the center of the shift rod hole.

Measurement would be in your service manual. If you have no manual, hopefully someone will be here shortly with the specifications.

I have the same motor. and I BET YOU if you do a little googling you can find this manual REALLY REALLY REALLY cheap. Am I making my self clear?

there are a few options. yes some are not as good as others. dont fall for the ebay scam for a book on cd. its the clymer book. covers like 1hp-350 or some b.s. like that. i mean the book is ok i guess but wont be of much help. its basically the equivalent of the owners manual you got with your vehicle.
