Question:
What's the most overbore you can safely get on a 89'Johnson 150? The engine in question is bored 30 over now and has a couple of seized pistons... What kind of money would it cost to get the job done?

Thanks,

Re: Johnson 150 seized

Hello Crappiebasser,
Wisco sells .064" oversized. I have used them on rental engines, however I think that is makilg the cyl. walls mighty thin. They also sell .044", if it will clean up at that that's what I would use. As far as price goes that depends on who does the job. If you are going to do the job you can probly figure on approx. $200 per hole for the total overhaul. If you are having a shop that's qualified do it, it will probly cost somewhere between $3000 and $4000, but with that the job should be done right and you should expect a warranty. You might consider a replacement short block for somewhere around $2000 trade. Some rebuilders offer a 1 year warranty.
Hope this helps
