johnson 150 99 j150plees.

Drained the trim fluid and refilled ever since then I get this noise. Does anyone know what I should do. This noise is not the bushings and doesn't do it all the time as you can hear when I move it down it doesn't make the noise.. I have drained all the air out of it I think But i was told when bleeding to raise engine and open bleed valve to lower engine close valve raise engine with button fill with fluid open bleed valve to lower close valve. I understand this is wrong now but I don't understand what the noise is. the trim works fine. just has the noise.. I don't want to damage it using it like this.. ohh...only happens when it's going down pretty much in the position its in right before it hits the two poles.. the noise comes from the lower trim area... lubed everything of course

How did you fill it up the second time?
What fluid did you use?

the second time I filled it and it wasn't completely empty I'm not sure it's possible to get all the fluid out without removing it I just left it up took the cap off put dexron 11 fluid in it cycled it up down with the button took cap off ...air came out topped with fluid till it was pissing out capped it cycled it left if for an hour came back removed cap no air just fluid came out. But ever since I took this cap off it started making this howling sound... The fluid I removed was the same as went in, they say to just fill till it's running out the hole but when I removed the cap for the first time it came gushing out like the whole resivior was filled up. The reason I started to mess with it is because it made some weird slurp noise (fuid) noise when it was first operated just sounded like something was up. I don't get it now it works better than before except for this noise. Could it be my battery wearing down from sitting all winter and now cycling this up and down a few too many times?

Check your transom bolts; make sure they are still tight.

Everything is tight i've been around it over and over. The battery has been on charge now for a few hours so I'll know in a few min if thats it or not.

charged the battery for a few hours and I can't hear that noise anymore. tried several times. Must have been the pump struggling weird thou cuz it went up just fine and I'd think it takes more power to go up. Maybe just the pivot point and it needed the extra amps. not too sure.. probably cut the life of my trim motor bleeding it over and over haha. live and learn!.
