Hi

New poster so please be nice!! New ECU needed.

I have a johno 150 V6 1999 model with year 2000 powerhead. It is the water cooled computer model but not the later Ram one with the black cover over it.

I have lost the pulse to one injector. All else is normal. Cylinder drop tests conclude it is number 3 pot that is dead. Have checked spark and all OK. Have checked all wiring and it is OK . Have switched leads and injectors to prove the Injector is OK. All compressions and rest of motor all good.

Any other ideas before I get a new computer or have one rebuilt??

Also I have had a look through the parts listing and on the surface I can see no mechanical differences between the 150hp and the 175hp motor in that year. If it is just the CPU / computer that is different is there any reason not to order the 175hp computer?

Thanks for all your help in advance.
Please pass this on to any experts that aren't visiting regulary or pass their address on to me so I can solve my issue quickly.

Cataman

Mike
PS I know the issues with Ficht and only have 300hours on this motor which has had all the updates.

You cannot order just a new computer box. You can buy new or used exchange only from Evinrude, see an authorized dealer. The internal memory has to be loaded into the new or rebuilt computer.

You can also go to : dfitechnologies.com where they repair FICHT computers, injectors, etc. and can save you a few bucks.

Thanks for the reply seahorse 5.

I have just phoned DFI and they are much better than my local johno guys. Locally they will only supply new at US2200- ouch that's the problem with living in Australia. DFI seem to know what they are doing but unfortunately won't change a 150hp tp 175hp as it is against the EPA law- fair enough even though I am not in the USA.

Yeah i know they need to download the injector maps into either a new or rebuilt ECU but I need to check what happens if mine is so cooked they can't get the injector details.

Talking to people I am finding that the 175hp didn't really have that much more torque or speed in most applications but I find fewer reports of them discinigrating but that is probably down to fewer sold.

If anyone had experiences with 150 and 175 ficht as a power comparison on a heavy boat I'd like to hear it.

Regards

Mike
