Johnson 150hp motor

I currently have a Johnson 150hp outboard motor that does not want to idle after starting when I lower the idle speed!!! I could use some help with this?
Also, the motor has been sitting for about 1 and half years. I have new gas for it but I am stumped. Need help.

Check the compression. What is it? Remove spark plugs and test the spark. Do you have spark on all cylinders?

Sitting that length of time, the carburetors are fouled. Remove, clean, and rebuild them using new carburetor kits.

What year is the engine. Does it have VRO?

It is @1992 and it is a VRO...
