johnson 15hp four stroke lower unit removal

Hi guys, I have a 1998 Johnson 15hp four stroke. How do you disconnect the shift shaft to get the lower unit off?

Have you found it?? On the floor of the cowl, starboard side, behind and under the carb. Follow it up from the lu to where it meets the cowl and you will see where it connects to the bellcrank. Just unbolt it, slide the pin out then the shift rod will slide down. Dont attempt to adjust or tighten the shift rod once removed or you will not be able to get it to hook back up or shift again.

I got it. It was kinda wierd though. I had to separate the lower cowl. It does remove like a tipical omc.
