Hey all

Can any of you guys give me some speed's your Jon boat's run with a 15HP on them .I took mine to the river yesterday and was getting 23MPH out of it that's on a 1436 Jon the prop that is on the motor is a 9 1/2x12 1/2 (stock prop) I forgot my tach so couldn't get any RPM'S .The boat weigh's 170lbs by it's self but I have added a floor and storage compartment guessing the weight to be about 400 lbs with motor and battery/gas .

Thank's

Same speed for me (23mph) on GPS with a 12'36" johnboat. If you want to see more search out "Poll: how quick do your outboards push" by WBeaton. we've all piled on a bunch of speeds there--a pretty neat thread....

I thought It might be a little faster but maybe not what RPM's are you guy's getting at that speed .I was by myself when I ran it yesterday .The prop on the motor need's replaced it is a little nicked up might have to drop to a 91/4x 11 if the RPM's are to low.

That's about top speed for that motor on a utility/jon boat.

Re: Johnson 15hp Speed

speed sounds about right, but 12 1/2" pitch sounds too high. I don't think that would be stock. What year do you have? I bet your rpms are low. I think a 9 or 10" pitch would probably be about right. I think I have a 9" on my 15 hp...

It's a 1995 15HP the 9 1/2 x 12 1/2 is the stock prop for that year (Listed in Manual) I called around and found a 9 1/4 x 11 in case the RPM'S are to low gotta wait till I can get a tach on it though. He also has the Stock prop.
