Sorry for such a long post... This motor is a Johnson 175 GT 89 MODEL stlceb have taken motor to mechanics and so far have changed the timer base , power pack and stator. Problem with motor is will not rev past about 1900 rpms. This is what I have done so far. Tested spark with air gap tester jumps over 7/16 inch. Rebuilt carbs and pulled down and cleaned twice. Have unhooked black and white wire and both tan wires to temp sensor which did not help. Rebuilt gas side of vro with new kit. Disconnected vro system and unplugged wires on vro oil pump side also removed tank and wires to tank. Removed vro pump and installed 2 pumps for v6 on motor. Have checked coils with inductive timing light while running down the lake and no misfires on non of the coils. Have cranked motor on muffs in driveway at night and checked for fire jumping and found nothing. No obstruction in fuel delivery from tank and vent is open. Motor will run for about 100 yards on water and then will die it will start back up and run 100 yards and die again. Have changed primer bulb and tried pumping while running on water with no change. Motor will idle fine for about a minute and then just die but will start right back up.Compression runs from 99 to 105 on all cylinders.Again sorry for such a long post but have no where else go with this.

Have you tried to bypass the fuel pump and use a gravity tank to see if theres a issue with fuel supply?

Have checked fuel pump pressure it is ok . Forgot to mention that I changed all fuel hoses and also new plugs QL77jc4. Will reed valves cause this problem ?
