Yesterday I purchased a 1958 Johnson Seahorse 18 hp short shaft with tiller steering. This outboard is in terrific shape, and according to the widow of the original owner (from whom it was purchased), it has only been run approximately 5 times. The paint on the entire unit is flawless as well as no mechanical issues at all. What is the approximate value of this motor?

Re: Johnson 18 hp value

it is not a collectors item, but it is one of the best engines made, extremely easy to work on, very dependable. i've had 2 55 15hp, and now have a 58 35hp. value $300-$500 depending on buyer and area. will probably need the points, coils, condensers, plug wires all are under flywheel, also and impeller. after that should run like a brand new motor.

The value is exactly what you paid for it. That is the value to YOU.
