This connector on my 1987 48SPL has a plug in it. Also one of the wires feeding it has been chewed and and is broken.
What is the purpose of it?
Why is it plugged off?

Thanks!

What are the colors of the wires going to that plug?----Might have to do with ---trim / tilt-----tachometer----Oil injection system ( Not found on yours )

????----Colors appear to be faded.-----Since I can not touch your motor you need to report the colors as per post #2

well... from here... one looks
black... ground
Tan.....temperature
Gray... tach

if the connector has no mate going anywhere on the engine and performance is not affected then it is optional.

where exactly it is located ? post a clear picture of surroundings
