My 1992 Johnson 70hp has a major fuel problem. When I pump the bulb it never get hard, I replaced the fuel lines and bulb with double clamps where posible. no help. If I continue to pump the bulb the lower cylinder will fill with fuel. I suspect a bad needle valve, before I get into puting in a repair kit is there anything else I should check? Do the gaskets for the air box come with the carb kit or is that a seperate item. Are there different repair kits available?

if you prime the bulb when the motor is not running you either have a leak somewhere or your floats and needles are not holding the fuel and they are leaking by.... if the lower cylinder will fil with fuel then thats your problem... rebuild the carburators , and not just the bad one but all of them....

gaskets from the air box do not come with the carb kit.... sometimes you can reuse them .... they dont hold anything so its really up to you if you wanna change them or not.... when you remove the air box/ silencer look for fuel at the bottom.. i wouldnt be surprise if you have some laying there...

once you rebuild the carbs dont put the cover back on, have the carbs exposed, until you pressure check and fire up the motor make sure you dont have any leaks....

there are diffrent kits available from sierra or malloy... see which ones come with float... if not no big deal either go to your dealer or buy them online...

good luck
