The other day, pulled up to a spot to fish and the motor wouldn't shut off when I turned the key off. Tried pulling the kill switch and that didn't kill it either. I let it idle for a bit and it eventually died, did that twice. It died after I gunned it getting it on the trailer, so no issue at the ramp! Anyway, last night I flushed the motor, turned the key off and it absolutely wasn't going to die (until the gas ran out), so I pushed the key in to flood it and killed it that way. I realize the key switch kills the motor by grounding the connection, I'm guessing the black/yellow(?) wire has a break in it somewhere, not letting it ground out and kill the engine.
A little background:
I have the new remote control box for that year model, mostly, if not all, plastic housing. On the way to fish that morning, it was a little rough, and took a some water on the console and I felt like I got a shock when I touched the console and remote control handle at the same time, this happened twice during the day. Last night when it wouldn't die, I pulled the main plug at the remote which, as I expected, had no effect on the engine running.
