hi, am looking at boat with johnson 225 hp carberator not FETCH? are they good? please help

Welcome!<br /><br />I think they were a great motor. There were some issues with gears in those days but there are lots of good gear sets now. No biggie.<br /><br />Those motors were pretty much the same since 1993. 3.0 liter, closed deck, finger ported, 90 degree loopers.

hmmm , gear problems sounds like a big problem , can you tell me more?

They had some issues but if the gears lasted this long I wouldnt worry about it. If you get a good deal on the motor and are concerened just replace the gears. Or get a newer style gearcase. <br /><br />They're great motors. If you like the boat and the deals right, I'd go for it. Personally I'd run it as is.
