Johnson 2 cyl 50 HP gearbox removal problem

having trouble removing the gearbox from my early johnson 2 cylinder ( 50 hp ). removed all the usual nuts and bolts and seperated but wont come off. seems the driveshaft and linkage are still attached but cant see when to dissconnect them. thought it would have just slipped off! can anyone help or advise me where i can pick up a manual? many thanks. kev

what year, they are in different places. shift linkage.

the shift linkage is on the bottom of the crankcase under the intake manifold. There should be a place to connect the shift rod

for novice it is easier, if you remove bottom carb.

removed lower carb and found linkage connection. gearbox now out, problem solved. many thanks for your help.
