I just repowered my Whaler with a 2002 J90, basic carbed motor that had very little (~40 hrs) prior usage. When the repower was done the dealer also installed a new OMC tach.

After idleing for more than a couple of minutes I get a constant alarm from the motor and the low oil light on the tach lights up. There is plenty of oil in the tank.

I am going to contact the dealer and I have already ordered the service and owner manuals but I am trying to get a jump on the issue by asking here. If I understand the constant tone (based on searchs here) it means either overheat or fuel restriction. The water pump seems exceptionally strong based on the strength of the stream and the fact that the water is not hot.

That leaves fuel restriction which would seem to contradict the low-oil alarm from the tach. Or am I not interpreting something correctly?

Thanks for any insight.

The constant tone just gets your attention on the system check system. The low oil light indicates low oil level in the reservoir. If the level is up, probably the sender in the reservoir has gone south.
