johnson 225

i have a 87 johnson 225 yesterday while cleaning the carbs i noticed a barb fitting that comes through the base plate open i was wondering if anybody knows what it goes to and should it be plugged. i know it is not the fuel enrichment as all 6 off them are in there correct spot. there is two of the fittings the bottom one has a hose on it that slips into the air silencer base they look like a 3/16 fitting. Any help would be appreciated thanks

I believe the other barb has a hose on it that goes to the upper main bearing with maybe a check valve in it. But I may be wrong.
