I have a 1955 johnson 25 horse in good condition, the problem I have is I need to change the steering to a tiller arm and convert to long shaft. A guy I know up the street has a 1964 or 65, 33 horse evinrude that is long shaft and has a tiller arm, he says I can have it for $150.00 if I want it, but to make sure its compatible first cause once it goes it ain't coming back. It looks like it will match up but I'm not sure. What do you think? How can I find out what year and horse power models have some interchangable parts? Any info you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks Ronnie

you will be financially better of finding another motor, that will fit your needs. the tiller arm and the shaft it interlocks with that controls the timing and throttle have to be an exact match.. the lower won't work.
